EARTO and IGLO call for more H2020 communication

The European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (EARTO) and the Informal Group of RTD Liaison Offices (IGLO) have called for further contact with the European Commission over Horizon 2020.

The industrial bodies made the call as they announced the findings of their workshop held in June focusing on feedback from the first Horizon 2020 calls. EARTO and IGLO said they would be happy to “serve as discussions platforms” for an exchange of views between experts involved in Horizon 2020, such as beneficiaries and national contact points (NCP), and Commission officials.

The paper also carries opinions on the preparation of work programmes, calls for proposals, proposal writing, and submission and evaluation. Feedback includes not taking into account the full advice of the Horizon 2020 advisory and programme committees; 2015 work programme updates not being clearly visible; the need for an improved NCP strategy as the workload increases; and improved feedback processes.

However, the paper said participants welcomed the improved Participant Portal as well as reduced application paperwork.
