Economy minister discusses Lithuanian research with Moedas

The Economy Minister of Lithuania, Evaldas Gustas, has held talks with the new European Research Commissioner Carlos Moedas.

The politicians debated the current innovation environment of Lithuania, bringing more products to market and increasing the country’s scientific competitiveness. Also discussed was the country’s 2014-2020 Innovation Development Programme which is currently being implemented. According to the national news agency, Moedas particularly stressed the importance of research and innovation in high technology and engineering to Lithuania.

So far, 150 applications have been received from scientists based in Lithuania under Horizon 2020, a statistic welcomed by the European Commissioner. Moedas also attended the opening of a new technology centre in Kaunas during his visit.
