Carl XVI Gustaf visits Co-Location Centre in Helsinki

HM King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has visited a co-location centre of EIT ICT Labs during a visit to Finland.

The monarch was given a tour of Aalto University’s Otaniemi campus, which includes Knowledge and Innovation Centre’s Helsinki Node. The co-location centre aims to set Finland’s ICT agenda and focuses on mobile data, cloud and data management and security, digital cities, and personal healthcare.

Carl XVI Gustaf spoke to master’s students and startup entrepreneurs working at the node and watched a student film produced at the university’s film department on the introduction of six Finnish industrial clusters.

The royal party visiting Aalto University comprised the Swedish Ambassador to Finland, Anders Lidén, the president of Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Peter Gudmundson, and several CEOs of the leading Swedish corporations. The visit was part of a national tour of Finland by the king and HRH Crown Princess Victoria.
