EIT holds high level talks with host country research leader

The interim director of the EIT has held high level talks with Hungary’s research commissioner.

Martin Kern met with Professor József Pálinkás, Hungarian Government commissioner responsible for research, development and innovation to discuss further co-operation opportunities between the EIT and its host country. The visit took place following Pálinkás’ appointment to the new position. The commissioner is responsible for the co-operation with the EIT.

Commenting on the talks, Kern said: “The EIT very much appreciates the support from its host country and hopes to continue this constructive engagement.” The temporary EIT leader said the institute was pleased with the direct involvement of Hungarian organisations within its Knowledge and Innovation Communities.

The EIT’s KICs have 16 Hungarian partners, including Budapest University of Technology and Economics and Eötvös Loránd University. One of the EIT KIC’s initiatives in the country is the EIT ICT Labs Master School, which provides students with a theoretical education whilst providing the opportunity to work with European top research facilities and leading business partners.
