Swiss-led human-machine technology project secures H2020 funding

A Swiss-led ICT project investigating human-machine technologies has won funding from Horizon 2020.

The ‘Face and body Analysis Natural Computer Interaction’ (FANCI) project will pioneer research into bringing together multi-modal, human-machine technologies, taking advantage of the cost and power savings now available. The technologies will be brought together on a single platform and the consortium involves Switzerland’s KeyLemon and nViso, which will provide face authentication software and emotion detection software respectively.

Also involved in the project consortium is Belgium’s SoftKinetic, which will deliver 3D vision technologies and gesture software and Sweden’s Tobii Technology, whose eye tracking software will be used in the project. Germany’s HARMAN, will act as an automotive industry expert, whilst Italy’s University of Siena will develop the application layer and the user API. Finally, Israel’s CEVA, which will provide one of its imaging and vision platforms and computer vision libraries.

The FANCI project will design and develop multi-modal face and body analytics and natural computer interfaces. The investigations will be tested through user experience evaluation and will initially centre on the automotive industry.
